START OF 2013 SCHOOL YEAR

It has been wonderful to begin the new school year with the slogan ‘Best Results Ever’!  The school’s GCSE 5 A*-C percentage including English and Mathematics has increased dramatically from 48% to 60% (above last year’s National Average of 58%).  Further details about our very good examination results at GCSE and A Level are provided in the Examinations section of the website.

The start of term is always a special time.  On the first day we welcome Year 7s for the start of their Secondary schooling and they are joined by the Sixth Formers; as an 11-19 Academy having the younger students in the school supported by the older students is a feature of the positive ethos we encourage in the school.

The next day all students are in school and after a Tutor period where they meet the new Year 7 students, they are straight into lessons, full of energy and enthusiasm.  Not surprisingly, the first assemblies of the term focussed on the theme ‘inspiring a generation’.  The Olympic and Paralympic values are reflected in the values of The Coleshill School and we will use this opportunity to encourage all students to achieve their potential.  The reintroduction of the House system earlier this year has been successful in further promoting team work and competition.
