INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS
The established partnership with Brikamaba Upper Basic and Senior Secondary School in Gambia continues to thrive.
OUR VISION – ‘The creation of a sustained and strong relationship between two diverse cultures which is beneficial to both partners through new dimensions to learning, the understanding and respect for other societies and opportunities to learn from others’.
GLOBAL CURRICULUM PROJECTS – Supported by DFID and The British Council pupils and students in both schools have embarked on projects that deal with the global issues of global citizenship, sustainability, diversity values and perceptions.
A visit in February to Brikamaba involved 3 teachers and 2 students who worked on developing the current sustainability project with our African colleagues. The forthcoming year's projects were discussed which will look at conflict resolution and human rights as global issues.
In April 2011 three teachers and one student visited Coleshill staying with families and experienced English life to the full. Projects were discussed and agreed, the plan for next year written, and an application made to the British Council for further funding.
Both schools have benefitted hugely over the past 4 years from the partnership and we look forward to involving more students and members of the community in exchanges in the future.
